چکیده
Construction of civil engineering structures on weak soil without taking necessary precautions may be risky. Alluvial that has not completed its geological formation a high void ratio and contains organic material therefore, the strength properties these soils should examined carefully. In this study, undrained shear (cu) behavior natural polypropylene (PP) fiber-reinforced alluvial clays was investigated with laboratory Vane test. To examine moisture content effects cu clay, samples were prepared in 0.50 liquid limit (LL), 0.75 LL, LL water contents. The PP fibers used 6 18 mm long, they mixed 0.1, 0.5, 1% by dry weight sample. tests performed at two different depths to investigate overburden pressure effect. increase caused significant decrease cu. results indicated reinforced (1 % PP) clay deposits 0.5LL, 0.75LL, contents 56.6, 20.7, 8.4 kPa, respectively. fiber increased deposits. length directly proportional values. effect more pronounced long added samples. %1 (6 mm) same 27.4, 29.1, 55.7 kPa. increasing penetration depth.

متن کاملUndrained Behaviour of Clay Reinforced with Surplus Carpet Fibres
A collaborative research programme between University of Bolton and Bradford University is investigating the effect of surplus carpet fibres on the strength as well as other important geotechnical properties of cohesive soils. Initial work concentrates on the manner in which the fibres affect the quick undrained properties of the reinforced soil. Four different surplus carpet fibre types are be...
متن کاملShear Strength Characteristics of Fiber Reinforced Fly Ash
Disposal of an industrial waste like flyash produced from burning of coals in thermal power stations requires a large land area. The decreasing availability of good construction site has led to the increased use of low lying areas filled up with industrial wastes whose bearing capacity is low. In-situ treatment of such industrial waste fills; in order to improve their bearing capacity with rein...
